Spring Programs
The James W Northrop Afterschool
An eight-week program, run twice a year, to supplement school instruction: language proficiency, STEM, and cultural awareness. Summit High School teachers are in charge of the instruction components of the program. The culture and community component of the program, which included museum and community organization visits and a leadership seminar, is conducted by EKO members in NJ and NY.

Spring into Art
A hands-on art program for middle and high school ESL students in partnership with the NJ Visual Art. A six-week program ran once a week, twice a year. A bilingual artist conducts the program. This program allows students to connect with art and explore artistic skills. The VACNJ offers scholarships to students with artistic inclinations to attend regular classes at the Art Center. An average of 10 students participate in this program each year.

Improv
A series of improvisation comedy workshops for middle and high school students in partnership with Vivid Stage Repertory Theater. Professional acting instructors conduct these workshops at the Oakes Center in Summit, NJ. This program allowed teenagers to explore comedy improvisation and acting techniques improv.

ESL for parents
Parents meet on Saturday morning for one hour of conversational English at The Connection. The program offers child care for families that need it. Ten parents, on average, attend this program.

Enrichment Classes for Special Education Students
A weekend program throughout the school year.
Students attend music, sport, and art, all modified classes at The Connection. On average, ten students attend at least one of these classes yearly.
